The nature of your curse: The gods as a whole (aside from any who wouldn't care) decided that a cleric who didn't want anything to do with them and who nonetheless discovered great power from their own internal moral code was too dangerous. They decided to curse (character) with the inability to heal themself, a susceptibility to injury both physical and mental, a proneness to corruption. (meaning, potentially, all of the above)
Magic item to start with: Protection against a certain number/amount of status effects (aka things that affect the suggested weaknesses) that breaks after a certain number of uses.
